Wichita State University was founded in 1895 as Fairmount College. It was originally a private Congregationalist school located in Wichita, Kansas. The college was renamed Wichita University in 1926, and then Wichita State University in 1964. The university has grown from its humble beginnings to become the largest institution of higher learning in the state of Kansas. It offers more than 200 undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates.
The university’s main campus consists of nearly 200 acres, including 18 residence halls, 13 academic buildings, and numerous recreational facilities.
