Founded in 1831, Wesleyan University is a private liberal arts college located in Middletown, Connecticut. It was established by Methodist leaders and named after John Wesley, the founder of Methodism. The university has a long and distinguished history of teaching excellence, having been ranked in the top tier of national universities by U.S. News & World Report since 1988. Admissions Stats

Wesleyan University is a highly selective school, admitting just over half of the students who apply. For the Class of 2024, 11,945 students applied and 6,113 were admitted for an overall acceptance rate of 51%. Of those admitted, 23% are international students and 20% are first-generation college students. The average GPA for incoming freshman is 3.85 on a 4.0 scale, and the average SAT score is 1350 on a 1600-point scale. Additionally, the middle 50% of admitted students scored between 1260-1450 on their SAT exams. The university also offers need-based financial aid to those who qualify; in 2019 nearly 50% of all undergraduate students received some form of financial assistance from Wesleyan University.
