Valdosta State University (VSU) is located in Valdosta, Georgia, and was founded in 1906. It began as a two-year teacher’s college and was originally named South Georgia State Normal College. In 1913, the school was renamed to Georgia Normal & Industrial College and offered four-year degrees in education. In 1925, the school changed its name to Valdosta State Teachers College and began offering master’s degrees. During this time, the campus underwent significant expansion with new buildings being constructed including a library and a gymnasium.

In 1950, the school changed its name to Valdosta State College and began offering degrees in other areas besides education such as business administration, home economics, science and mathematics. In 1963, the college received university status and became known as Valdosta State University. Since then VSU has continued to grow both academically and physically with the addition of new buildings such as the Student Union Building (1973), Hopper Hall (1974), West Hall (1975) and more recently Langdale Hall (2004). The university also offers a wide variety of degree programs from associate’s degrees to doctoral programs. Valdosta State University is a public university located in Valdosta, Georgia. It was founded in 1906 and is part of the University System of Georgia. It is one of the largest universities in the state, with an enrollment of more than 13,000 students. The student body is diverse and represents all 50 states as well as more than 80 countries.
