University of Wisconsin at Stout Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

The University of Wisconsin Stout was established in 1891 as the Stout Manual Training School. It was founded by James Huff Stout, a philanthropist and industrialist who believed in the power of education to create a better society. He envisioned an institution that could prepare students for an industrial career and provide them with the technical skills needed to compete in a rapidly changing economy. The school opened its doors to students from Wisconsin and Minnesota in 1891, with classes being taught by twelve instructors and a total enrollment of 108 students. The first classes were held in temporary buildings, but these soon gave way to permanent structures, like the main building, which was designed by famed architect Harvey Ellis.

In 1907, the school was renamed Stout Institute and began offering college-level courses in industrial arts and home economics. In 1921, it became a four-year college when it received its state charter as Wisconsin State College–Stout. Over the years, various programs were added including art education (1932), engineering technology (1937), business administration (1947), early childhood education (1949) and hospitality & tourism management (2006). In 1971, the school officially became known as University of Wisconsin–Stout following its merger with the University of Wisconsin System. Today, UW–Stout is one of the leading universities in the Midwest offering over 50 undergraduate majors as well as graduate programs in various fields such as engineering technology, hospitality & tourism management, business administration and more. See topschoolsintheusa for pharmacy schools in Washington.
