University of New England Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

The University of New England (UNE) was established in 1938 as the New England University College, a college of the University of Sydney. It was founded to serve the people of regional New South Wales and beyond, providing access to higher education without having to move away from home. The institution was initially located at the Armidale Teachers’ College before moving to its current location in 1954. In 1989, UNE gained autonomy from the University of Sydney and changed its name to the University of New England.

In 1993, UNE merged with two other universities – Armidale College of Advanced Education and Duarne Technical College – and became one university with four campuses: Armidale, Tamworth, Lismore and Coffs Harbour. This merger enabled UNE to offer a wider range of courses than ever before, including agriculture, business studies, education and nursing. In 2013, UNE celebrated its 75th anniversary with a series of special events including an exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.

Today, UNE is one of Australia’s leading regional universities offering more than 140 undergraduate degrees as well as postgraduate programs across a range of disciplines including law and medicine. The university has also established research centres across its four campuses focusing on areas such as climate change adaptation; sustainable energy; rural health; animal genetics; digital humanities; Indigenous education; food security and nutrition; and water resources management. With over 15000 students enrolled each year, UNE is committed to providing quality learning opportunities for students both on-campus and online through Open-UNE courses. Check top-engineering-schools for a list of engineering schools in Pennsylvania.
