The University of Houston at Clear Lake (UHCL) was founded in 1971, making it the second-oldest of the four universities in the University of Houston System. The campus is located on a 524-acre site near the NASA Johnson Space Center and nearby Bay Area Houston. UHCL was created out of a need for additional higher education opportunities in the region, and to provide educational resources to the growing population of aerospace workers who had begun to move into the area.
UHCL began as an upper-level institution, offering only junior and senior level courses, but gradually expanded its programs to include graduate degrees and doctorates. In 1973, UHCL became part of the University of Houston System, and just two years later began offering its first master’s degree program in Computer Science. This was followed by additional degree programs such as Accounting, Business Administration, Education, Psychology and Interdisciplinary Studies. In 1983 UHCL opened its first residence hall with over 300 beds. Since then it has expanded to include more housing options including apartments and townhomes for students living on campus. See topschoolsintheusa for LSAT test dates and centers in Wyoming.
UHCL has also grown to become an international university with students from more than 90 countries enrolled in its various degree programs. It is also home to many research centers including the Center for Aerospace Science & Technology Education (CAST), Center for Autism & Developmental Disabilities (CADD), Center for Biodiversity & Conservation Biology (CBCB), among others. The university is dedicated to providing an excellent education that prepares students for success after graduation.
