University of Connecticut Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

The University of Connecticut (UConn) was founded in 1881 as the Storrs Agricultural School. The school was established to provide instruction in agriculture and related sciences to the children of Connecticut’s farming communities. It was initially located on a small plot of land donated by Charles and Augustus Storrs. The first class at the school had just 12 students, but enrollment quickly grew over the next several decades. By 1935, the school had become a four-year college and was renamed Connecticut State College. In 1939, it became part of the newly created University of Connecticut system and adopted its current name.

Throughout its history, UConn has grown from a small agricultural college into one of the leading universities in the country. In 1963, it became one of only three public universities in New England to be admitted into the Association of American Universities (AAU). UConn now offers more than 100 undergraduate degree programs as well as many graduate and professional degrees. It has an enrollment of more than 30,000 students across its six campuses located throughout Connecticut. UConn is renowned for its excellence in teaching, research, and service to local communities in the state, making it an invaluable asset to Connecticut’s education system and economy.┬áCheck LOCALCOLLEGEEXPLORER for a list of community colleges in Nevada.
