Passport information

Note on the passport

The entry regulations can change at short notice, so it is strongly advised to inquire directly with the consular representatives in good time. A special permit is required for travel to border areas and nature reserves.

Transit

Transit travelers who fly on within 24 hours, have valid onward travel documents and do not leave the transit area do not need a transit visa. In person or by post to the consular section of the responsible embassy (see contact addresses). An invitation from a private or official body must be available. Some travel agencies can help with this.

Application required

Business trips additionally: (h) Invitation from the Turkmen business partner confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (original). (i) Visas for more than three months will only be issued on presentation of a negative HIV/AIDS certificate. A stamped, registered return envelope must be enclosed with the application.

Legally Required Registration

All foreigners coming to Turkmenistan and staying in Turkmenistan for more than 3 days must register at the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, 744000 Ashgabat, Asady Street 63, Tel.: 380024, -29, -37 or -61, or in other cities its branches. The traveler must register himself; this also applies to accommodation in a hotel. The traveler will receive confirmation of accommodation from their hotel, which must be presented upon registration. The registration is entered in the form of a stamp in the passport. The consular fee is US$25. In addition, the registration fee of approximately US$ 15 (payable in TMT) must be paid. The registration must be kept and presented upon departure. The deregistration is also noted in the passport. The presence of both stamps will be checked at exit control.
