Troy University Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

Troy University was founded in 1887 as Troy State Normal School, a teacher’s college for training teachers. It was the first state-supported teacher’s college in Alabama. Over the years, the school gradually expanded its degree programs and changed its name several times to reflect its growth. In 1929, the school became Troy State Teachers College and began offering four-year degrees. Then, in 1957, it became Troy State College, reflecting its move beyond teacher training and into other areas of higher education. In 1967, it achieved university status and was renamed Troy State University.

In 2003, the University system underwent a massive reorganization, resulting in Troy State University becoming Troy University. This new name better reflected the breadth of degree programs offered by the school and its commitment to providing students with a world-class education. The new Troy University quickly established itself as one of Alabama’s premier public universities and began expanding into international markets with campuses in Japan, Korea and Malaysia by 2005. Today, there are more than 150 degree programs offered at various locations worldwide with an enrollment of over 20,000 students worldwide each year. Check LAWSCHOOLSINUSA for a list of law schools in Arkansas.
