Tiffin University has a long and storied history that dates back to 1888. Founded by Dr. Henry J. Bixler, the university was created to provide education to students from all walks of life, regardless of their financial situation. Initially known as The Tiffin Academy of Business and Commercial Science, the school offered courses in business and commerce. Over the years, the school expanded its offerings to include programs in liberal arts, sciences, nursing, health sciences and more. In 1934, Tiffin College was established as a non-profit institution of higher learning and in 2000 it achieved university status with the addition of graduate programs.
