Training
The children start school at the age of six and the vast majority now attend at least the compulsory first six years. The resource shortage is large and many teachers have inadequate education. Around two-thirds of children also attend the four-year high school and two- or three-year high school.

The school system is built according to the Dutch model, with some reforms since 1980. Dutch is the dominant language of instruction.
The training is free of charge, even at higher levels. Many schools, from preschool to high school, are run under the auspices of the church. Outside of the countryside, the shortage of resources is particularly great and some teachers lack complete education.
