St. Joseph College was founded in 1851 by Rev. Fr. C.M.A. Payen, a French missionary and the first Vicar Apostolic of Agra, India. Since its inception, St. Joseph College has been dedicated to providing quality education to its students, with an emphasis on the liberal arts and sciences. The college was initially affiliated to the University of Calcutta, but was later affiliated to Agra University in 1927 and then to Dr B R Ambedkar University in 1996.
