The Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) was founded in 1972 by a group of architects and designers who wanted to create an alternative to the traditional architecture education model. The school was founded with the idea that architecture should be accessible and open to everyone, regardless of their background or experience. SCI-Arc is a nonprofit institution and is one of the few independent architecture schools in the US. It offers undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs, as well as community outreach initiatives.
Since its founding, SCI-Arc has been dedicated to creating an innovative learning environment that fosters creativity and encourages experimentation. The school has always been at the forefront of introducing new technologies into its curriculum, such as digital fabrication and 3D printing. It also has a strong emphasis on research and collaboration, which allows students to explore different ideas while working together with faculty members. SCI-Arc’s faculty consists of some of the most renowned architects from around the world, who are committed to teaching creative problem solving through design thinking. In addition to its academic programs, SCI-Arc also hosts conferences, workshops, lectures and other events that bring together professionals from all over the world to discuss innovative solutions for today’s architectural challenges.
