The Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) was founded in 1972 by a group of architects and designers who wanted to create an alternative to the traditional architecture education model. The school was founded with the idea that architecture should be accessible and open to everyone, regardless of their background or experience. SCI-Arc is a nonprofit institution and is one of the few independent architecture schools in the US.
