Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) was founded in 1859 by the Southern Baptist Convention in Greenville, South Carolina. It is the oldest of six seminaries affiliated with the Convention. Southern Baptist Theological Seminary is a private, Christian-based institution located in Louisville, Kentucky. It was founded in 1859 by the Southern Baptist Convention and offers degrees at the graduate and doctorate levels. The seminary is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

The seminary has a total enrollment of approximately 3,000 students with approximately 1,200 full-time students.
