South Texas College was founded in 1993 and is one of the fastest growing community colleges in Texas. It was originally established as a public two-year college located in the Rio Grande Valley, with its main campus located in McAllen. The college has since expanded to include four other campuses located in Starr County, Cameron County, Hidalgo County, and Willacy County. South Texas College offers more than 140 academic programs that prepare students to transfer to four-year institutions or enter the workforce directly after graduation.
