Sojourner-Douglass College Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

Sojourner-Douglass College (SDC) was founded in 1972 by Dr. Nathan Irby Jr. and his wife, Dr. Gloria Richardson, two civil rights activists and educators from Baltimore, MD. The college started as a small learning center offering free classes with the mission of providing educational opportunities to individuals who were traditionally excluded from higher education due to their race or economic status. In 1974, SDC received accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and began offering associate’s degrees in business administration, general studies and early childhood education. By 1979, SDC had grown to include seven campuses throughout the Baltimore area and had expanded its curriculum to include bachelor’s degrees in management studies and computer science.

In the 1980s, SDC continued to grow rapidly, opening additional campuses throughout Maryland and Delaware as well as a campus in Washington D.C., which offered a Master of Science degree program in Counseling Psychology. During this decade, SDC also expanded its outreach programs by partnering with local community organizations such as churches, schools and libraries to provide educational resources for disadvantaged populations. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Sojourner-Douglass College continued to expand its reach by offering online courses for students who could not attend classes on campus due to work or family obligations. In 2013, Sojourner-Douglass College merged with Morgan State University located in Baltimore City where it remains today as an independent college within Morgan State University’s School of Continuing Studies. Check Topmbadirectory for a list of MBA colleges in Arizona.
