Slovenia is known for the many castles and the different mountain ranges. For example, in the north there are the Karawanken and Kamnic Alps and in the north-west the Julian Alps. In the Julian Alps is the highest mountain in the country (Triglav, 2864 meters high) and the largest lake in the country (Lake Bohinj, 25 km²). Mountain hiking is a widely practiced sport in the country by both the Slovenian population and tourists. Furthermore, about half of the country is forested and you can find several National Parks and caves. On the coast there are a few port cities such as Koper and Piran.
