Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania (SU) is a public university located in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1871, SU was originally known as the Cumberland Valley State Normal School and was founded to train teachers for the local school districts. Over the years, the university has grown and evolved to become a comprehensive institution offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in fields such as business, education, computer science, and nursing. In 1983, it was renamed Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania to better reflect its mission as an academic institution.
