Scripps College Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

Scripps College was founded in 1926 by philanthropist Ellen Browning Scripps. With a vision of an all-female liberal arts college, she donated the land and funds to create a place of learning for women. In its first year, the college had just over 100 students and was led by President Erna H. Finley. Over the next few decades, Scripps grew in size and reputation, with its student body expanding to nearly 500 students and faculty members from around the world. By 1960, Scripps had become one of the top liberal arts colleges for women in the United States. The college’s academic offerings expanded significantly during this time as well, introducing new majors such as international relations and environmental studies. In addition to its undergraduate programs, Scripps also began offering master’s degrees in business administration and education in 1971.

In recent years, Scripps has continued to expand its academic offerings while maintaining its commitment to providing a high-quality education for women. The college now offers over 40 majors ranging from art history to neuroscience and boasts an impressive array of research opportunities for students. Additionally, the college has established several interdisciplinary programs such as Gender & Women’s Studies; Environmental Analysis; Urban Studies & Planning; and Media Studies & Digital Humanities that allow students to explore topics across multiple disciplines. As part of its commitment to providing an inclusive learning environment, Scripps has also taken steps towards diversifying its student body by actively recruiting students from diverse backgrounds both domestically and internationally. Check LOCALCOLLEGEEXPLORER.COM for a list of colleges and universities in Arkansas.
