Schreiner University is a private liberal arts university located in Kerrville, Texas. It was founded in 1923 by the Reverend Charles Schreiner and his son, Captain George Schreiner. The university was originally named Schreiner Institute and offered two-year degrees. In 1934, it was granted a charter by the state of Texas and changed its name to Schreiner College. The college continued to grow over the next few decades, adding dormitories, academic buildings, and a library. In 1984, the college achieved full accreditation as a four-year college and changed its name to Schreiner University.
