Passport information

Generally required, must be valid for at least 6 months beyond departure. Note on the passport

The entry regulations can change at short notice, so it is advisable to inquire directly with the consular representatives in good time. Visa information

Visa types and costs

Validity

Application required

Legally Required Registration

All travelers must be registered within 7 days by their hotel or a Russian guarantor (host family or business partner) with the local police or with the competent migration authority (UWM) of the Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation. You need a passport with a visa and a migration card (see visa). Postal registration in post offices is also possible, which is subject to a fee. For every change of location with a stay of more than 7 days, the obligation to register, which is strictly controlled, must be met again. Registrations can also be made through the Russian partner of the German, Austrian or Swiss travel agencies that procured the visa. In the case of work stays, the registration address can be the seat of the Russian company/organization. It is advisable to photocopy and keep safe the passport including visa, migration card and the detachable part of the registration form.

Applications for visa extensions can be submitted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Entry with children

Entry with pets

For pets, a health certificate bearing an official stamp of the country of origin, issued no more than 10 days before arrival, and a pet ID card are required.
