Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design (RMCAD) was founded in 1963 by a group of Denver citizens who shared a vision for creating a college that would provide an opportunity for students to earn a degree in the fine arts. The college has grown from its original two-year Associate of Arts degree program to seven Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees, two Master of Fine Arts degrees, and five certificate programs. RMCAD is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is an institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD).
The college offers courses in traditional media such as painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and photography as well as digital media such as graphic design, web design, animation, game design and interactive media. In addition to studio classes, students have access to courses in art history and criticism, business practices for artists and creative writing. Through partnerships with local organizations such as the Denver Art Museum and Colorado Ballet Company, RMCAD provides students with valuable real-world experience.
