Kyoto is the third capital of Japan. The most famous sights of the city are the temples and palaces of Kinkau-ji, Kemizu-ji and Ginkau-ji. Also famous are the Gyoen Gardens and the Ryoan-ji Temple Rock Garden.
Osaka is the center of Japan ‘s classical theater. Since the city is located in the delta of the Yodogawa River, it is called the “Venice of the Far East”.
Tokyo is the capital of Japan and one of the oldest cities in this state. It perfectly combines ancient temples and modern skyscrapers. One of the main attractions of the city is the Imperial Palace, located near the main Tokyo Station. Previously, the palace was the residence of the shoguns and was called Edo Castle. The palace has existed in its present form since 1968. A little south of Tokyo is Yokohama. Its feature is ultra-modern architecture; almost all the houses in the city are skyscrapers. The main city attraction is an open-air museum where you can see samples of national houses and temples. Air pollution and a huge population density make a long stay in Yokohama difficult.
Mount Fuji is the highest mountain in the country, a true symbol of Japan. Sometimes, if the weather is very clear, the mountain can be seen directly from Tokyo. In winter and early spring, the mountain is covered with snow, and it looks especially beautiful.
The official season for climbing Mount Fuji is August or July, but in general you can climb the mountain at any time of the year. At the same time, the middle of winter is a time that is still more suitable for experienced tourists.
The five lakes on the north side of the mountain are one of the most popular tourist spots. Here you can visit parks and ice caves, admire Mount Fuji or enjoy water sports. You can get to these places by taking a bus in Tokyo from Shinjuku.
