Visa information

A visa is generally required except for citizens of the following countries listed in the table above for multiple stays for purposes such as visits, business and tourism travel of up to a total of 90 days within any 180 day period commencing from entry. The named citizens must have a valid return or onward travel ticket, a hotel reservation and a passport that is still valid for at least 6 months. The visa waiver rule applies to Hamad International Airport and all other border points: (a) Germany, Austria and most other EU countries (exception: Ireland (Rep.) 30 days visa exemption); (b) Switzerland; (c) Turkey. Note: It is also possible to apply for a visa-on-arrival valid for Qatar and Oman. The visa, which can be used for multiple entries and exits, entitles you to stay for up to 30 days. Costs

Applicants requiring a visa resident in Germany Entry visa: 200 QR (at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Berlin) (Travellers who only have a temporary passport must apply for an entry visa at the responsible consular representation before the trip. Visa types and costs

Tourist, Business and Transit Visa.

Transit

Otherwise visa-requiring transit travelers who have a stay of at least 5 hours, arrive at Hamad International Airport, travel with Qatar Airways, have valid documents for onward travel and a seat reservation, can apply for a free transit visa upon arrival and can use it for up to 96 hours (4 days) stay in Qatar. All nationalities staying less than 24 hours in the transit area of ​​Hamad International Airport do not need a transit visa.

Application required

The following documents must be presented at the airport: (a) Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the stay. (b) Return or Onward Ticket. Documents for a visa at the Embassy (a) Completed visa form. (b) (Temporary) passport valid for at least 6 months upon entry. (c) Return or onward travel ticket and documents. (d) Proof of accommodation in Qatar (e.g. hotel voucher, copy of hotel reservation). (e) Sufficient funds for stay: bank statements for the last three months (originals and copies); (Visa or Mastercard credit card or at least €1350 in cash). (f) Fee (copy of bank transfer to Consulate). (g) 2 color passport photos. (h) Information about the purpose of the trip.

Processing time

Tourist Visa: Minimum 10 business days. The visa should be submitted by holders of temporary passports at least 4 weeks before departure at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Berlin. Online visa: within 24 hours.

Proof of sufficient funds

Foreigners must have sufficient funds (minimum US$1,400 or international credit cards, but not American Express).

Legally Required Registration

If you want to stay longer than 1 month in the country, you have to apply for a residence permit or an extension of your visa for up to 3 months on arrival (among other things, you need a police clearance certificate from your home country).

Entry with children

German: Own passport or children’s passport with photo. Austrians: Own passport. Swiss: Own passport. Turks: Own passport. Note: The same visa requirements apply to children as to their parents. Minors traveling unaccompanied by their parents/guardians need a visa in advance. It is not possible to issue a visa upon arrival at the airport. Since June 27, 2012, children need their own travel document (passport / children’s passport) for trips abroad (also within the EU). Entries of children in the parental passport are no longer possible.

Entry restrictions

In the past few months, German citizens with a migration background, usually an Arab, have been denied entry to Qatar in individual cases without giving reasons. Travelers from this group of people are therefore strongly recommended to apply for a visa before entering the country.

Exit permit

People with a residence permit need an exit permit.
