Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBAU) was founded in 1968 by Jess C. Moody, a pastor from West Palm Beach, Florida. Its original goal was to provide a Christian liberal arts education for students of all backgrounds. Moody wanted to create an institution that combined the academic rigor of a traditional university with the spiritual guidance of a church.
Since its founding, PBAU has grown from an enrollment of just over one hundred students to nearly four thousand today. The university has also expanded its offerings to include more than fifty undergraduate and graduate degree programs. In addition to traditional courses, PBAU offers many unique programs such as their Human Performance Institute and the Center for Global Outreach and Engagement (CGOE). These centers focus on providing students with opportunities to engage in experiential learning activities that prepare them for life after college. Student life at PBAU is also vibrant, offering over 200 clubs and organizations that cover a variety of interests ranging from athletics and music to student government and community service projects. With its diverse student population, Palm Beach Atlantic University provides an enriching and supportive environment for students to learn, grow, and explore.
