Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) was founded in 1895 by the Sisters of Divine Providence, a Catholic religious order. The school was originally established as Our Lady of the Lake College and was located in downtown San Antonio, Texas. It was initially a two-year college and offered courses in music, literature, mathematics, science, and foreign languages. In 1920, the college became a four-year institution and changed its name to Our Lady of the Lake University. This allowed students to pursue bachelor’s degrees.
In 1951, OLLU opened its graduate school and began offering master’s degrees in education and business administration. Since then, OLLU has continued to expand its academic programs and now offers more than 60 undergraduate majors and minors along with 15 graduate degrees. In addition to traditional on-campus classes, OLLU also offers online degree programs for distance learners who are unable to attend classes on campus.
