Otterbein University Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

Otterbein University was founded in 1847 by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ as a co-educational college for students of all backgrounds. The founders had a vision to create an institution that would provide quality higher education to its students, regardless of their race, gender, or socio-economic status. The school was named after Bishop Philip William Otterbein, one of the founders of the Church and a strong advocate for education.

At first, Otterbein was located in Westerville, Ohio and only offered college-level courses. In 1858, it became the first college in Ohio to award degrees to women and by 1876 it had become a four year university offering Bachelor’s degrees. Over time, Otterbein expanded its curriculum to include graduate and professional programs such as law and business administration. Today, Otterbein University is recognized as one of the leading liberal arts universities in Ohio with more than 200 academic programs offered across its five colleges: Arts & Sciences; Business & Leadership; Education & Social Services; Nursing & Health Sciences; and Graduate Studies. In addition to providing educational opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds, Otterbein has long been committed to community service through civic engagement initiatives such as volunteerism, internships and research projects involving local non-profits. This commitment continues today as Otterbein strives to make a meaningful impact on our world through its faculty and students’ collective efforts. Check eshaoxing for information about Academy of Art College.
