Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OKWU) was founded in 1909 by the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Oklahoma. It began as a small college in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and was the first college in the state to offer a four-year degree. The school quickly grew and moved to its current location in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the 1950s, OKWU saw an expansion of its academic offerings and began offering graduate degrees. In the 1970s, OKWU underwent a major renovation and expansion that included adding new buildings and facilities, such as an auditorium, library, and student center. Today, OKWU is a thriving university with over 2,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
