Nyack College was founded in 1882 by Dr. A. B. Simpson and the Christian Missionary Alliance. It was originally named the Missionary Training Institute, and its mission was to train people for missionary work around the world. The school moved to its current location in New York City in 1897, and its name was changed to Nyack College in 1972. Through the years, Nyack College has expanded its mission to include providing a liberal arts education focused on Christian values and principles. This focus has led to the development of six schools: Arts & Sciences, Education, Music & Worship Arts, Nursing, Professional & Graduate Studies and Theological Seminary. It has also grown into a fully accredited college offering more than 50 undergraduate majors and 20 graduate programs at both its New York City campus as well as other locations throughout the U.S., including Florida, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
