Northern New Mexico College Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

Northern New Mexico College (NNMC) was founded in 1909 as a state-supported two-year college. It was initially known as the New Mexico Normal School, and its goal was to provide teacher training for the northern part of the state. The school was located in Española and would later become part of the University of New Mexico system. By 1925, the school had become a four-year college and changed its name to Northern New Mexico Junior College. In 1962, it became Northern New Mexico College and began offering bachelor’s degrees for the first time.

In 1974, NNMC became a public community college under the auspices of the State Board of Education. This enabled them to offer associate degrees and certificate programs in addition to their existing bachelor’s degree offerings. Over time, NNMC has added several new academic programs such as nursing, automotive technology, business administration and computer information systems. In addition, they have opened satellite campuses throughout northern New Mexico in order to offer more educational opportunities to students who may not be able to attend classes on campus due to distance or other factors. Today, NNMC is a comprehensive two-year college that offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs across six schools: Arts & Sciences; Business; Health Sciences; Information Technology; Professional Studies; and Trades & Technology. Check USPRIVATESCHOOLSFINDER for a list of private schools in Washington DC.
