North Dakota State University (NDSU) was founded in 1890 as North Dakota Agricultural College. Located in Fargo, North Dakota, the school was initially established to provide agricultural education to the residents of the state. Initially, the college offered two-year and four-year degrees in agriculture, mechanical arts, and home economics. Over the next few decades, NDSU continued to expand its educational offerings to include more degree programs in a variety of areas such as engineering and business. In 1960, NDSU officially became a university and changed its name to North Dakota State University.
