North Carolina A&T State University is a historically black public university that was founded in 1891. It is the largest historically black university in the United States and the second-oldest public institution of higher learning in North Carolina. The school was founded as a land-grant college for African Americans, and it has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1929.
