Niue Travel Information

According to a2zgov, Niue (Niuese: Niuē) is an island in the Pacific Ocean (Oceania) that is part of the Polynesia archipelago. According to usaers, Niue has a Free Association with New Zealand. The capital of Niue is Alofi. A number of major cities on Niue are: Avatele, Hakupu and Tamakautoga.

Niue is best known for its marine life. Due to the clarity of the water (30-70 meters visibility) and the presence of many coral reefs and fish species, the island is a paradise for divers and snorkelers. The coastline of the island consists partly of white sandy beaches and partly of rock formations. Inland there are many caves and untouched nature. Niue’s economy is largely based on agriculture and is also largely dependent on the New Zealand government. The population of Niue has fallen sharply in recent years. This is mostly due to a cyclone that hit the island in 2004.
