National-Louis University Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

National-Louis University was founded in 1886 by Elizabeth Harrison, a pioneering educator and social reformer. It was originally called the National Kindergarten and Elementary College, and its mission was to provide quality education in the areas of early childhood education and elementary teaching. Initially, the college only served kindergartners and elementary school teachers. However, its offerings quickly expanded as it began offering courses in secondary education, liberal arts, business administration, and science.

In 1900, the college changed its name to National College of Education (NCE) to reflect its broader scope of studies. NCE continued to grow steadily over the following decades and eventually developed four distinct schools: School of Education; School of Professional Studies; School of Business & Management; and School of Health & Human Services.

In 1999, NCE merged with another institution – Robert Morris College – which had been providing higher education since 1913. This merger created National-Louis University (NLU), which retained all four schools from NCE as well as adding a fifth school – the Graduate School – that focused on advanced degrees. NLU has since become one of the most respected universities in Chicago for higher education with campuses throughout Illinois and Florida offering undergraduate, graduate, doctoral programs as well as professional certificate programs. NLU is also known for its commitment to community service initiatives through its Center for Professional Development & Community Outreach program. Check Microedu for a list of community colleges in Connecticut.
