Muhlenberg College was founded in 1848 by Reverend Samuel K. Brobst, a pastor of the Lutheran Church. The college was named for Henry Melchior Muhlenberg, a patriarch of the Lutheran Church in America. Originally located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the college moved to its current location in neighboring Bethlehem in 1902. The campus has grown significantly since that time, with several new buildings and renovations added over the years. The college has seen many changes since its founding over 170 years ago, but it remains committed to its Lutheran roots and core values of educating students for lives of purpose and service.
