Montana State University at Billings (MSUB) is located in the heart of downtown Billings, Montana. It was founded in 1927 as Eastern Montana Normal School, a two-year teacher’s college. In 1949 it became Eastern Montana College of Education and began offering four-year degrees. In 1965 it became a part of the Montana University System and changed its name to Eastern Montana College. During the 1970s and 1980s, the college expanded its academic offerings to include new degree programs, such as Computer Science and Business Administration. In 1994 it was granted university status by the state legislature, becoming what is now known as MSUB.
