Missouri Valley College was founded in 1889 by Presbyterian minister, Dr. Robert Alexander Smart. It was originally located in Marshall, Missouri and was a college for men, offering education in the liberal arts and sciences. The school’s mission was to provide quality education to young men from the Midwest and beyond. In 1960, the college moved to its current location in Marshall, Missouri and began offering degrees in liberal arts, business administration and social work.
