The Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design was founded in 1974 as the first independent college of art and design in Wisconsin. It began with a faculty of five, offering classes in a variety of disciplines including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, and ceramics. The Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) is an independent, four-year college of visual arts and design located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It offers bachelor’s degrees in communication design, illustration, industrial design, interior architecture and design, new studio practice, photography and related media, and fine arts.
