Mid-Atlantic Christian University (MACU) was founded in 1948 as a private, four-year university. It is located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and is the only accredited four-year Christian college in the state. The university was initially founded to provide higher education opportunities to local students who would otherwise not have access to higher education. The founders sought to create an educational environment that would be based on biblical principles and Christian values.
Since its inception, MACU has grown significantly and now offers more than 50 undergraduate majors, minors and certificate programs.
