Marylhurst University Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

Marylhurst University has a long and rich history, beginning in 1893 when it was founded as an all-women’s college by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. The original campus consisted of a small wooden house and a few acres of land on the banks of the Willamette River. In 1895, the school was chartered as St. Mary’s Academy, offering courses in business, music, art, and other subjects. Over the years, St. Mary’s Academy grew and began to offer more advanced classes in fields such as engineering and science. In 1925, it was renamed Marylhurst College to reflect its new status as a four-year liberal arts college for women.

In 1935, Marylhurst College became coeducational when it merged with Oregon Catholic College (a men’s college). This merger resulted in an increase in enrollment and allowed for more academic opportunities for students at both institutions. During World War II, several buildings were constructed on campus to accommodate military personnel attending school at Marylhurst under the GI Bill program. In 1959, Marylhurst College became Marylhurst University when it was granted university status by Oregon’s State Board of Higher Education.

Throughout its history, Marylhurst has remained dedicated to providing quality education opportunities for its students regardless of gender or background; this commitment is reflected in its diverse student body today which includes people from different cultures around the world. The university also offers unique degree programs such as its interdisciplinary studies program which allows students to create their own course of study from various disciplines offered at the university. With over 130 years of history behind it, Marylhurst University is still going strong today with a commitment to serving its students and community through quality education opportunities that are accessible to everyone who seeks them out! Check dictionaryforall for information about Albertus Magnus College.
