Marist College was established in 1929 by the Marist Brothers, a Roman Catholic religious order. Located on the banks of the Hudson River in New York, the college was founded to provide a quality education to young men from all walks of life. The college began with just 50 students and seven faculty members, and has since grown to an enrollment of over 6,000 students and 400 faculty members. The college’s main campus is located on 217 acres of land overlooking the Hudson River and is home to five schools: School of Liberal Arts, School of Science, School of Management, School of Communication and the School of Education.

Marist College is a private liberal arts college located on the banks of the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, New York. It is one of the oldest colleges in the United States and has been consistently ranked as one of the top regional universities in the northeast by U.S. News and World Report. The student body at Marist College is highly diverse, representing students from all 50 states and over 70 countries around the world. The student-faculty ratio is 12:1 and there are more than 70 majors to choose from. Approximately 4,400 undergraduate students attend Marist each year; out of those, about 3,300 are first-time freshmen. The average GPA for first-year students at Marist is 3.4, with an SAT range of 1050 – 1270 and ACT range of 22 – 28 for accepted applicants. Approximately two thirds of applicants are admitted each year, making it a moderately selective school to get into; however, Marist provides generous financial aid packages to help make attending college more affordable for its students.
