Manhattan College was founded in 1853 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a Catholic teaching order. The college was originally located in Manhattan, New York and was known as the Academy of the Holy Infancy. It later changed its name to Manhattan College and moved to its current location in Riverdale, Bronx in 1882. Over the years, Manhattan College has grown from a small college with only a few dozen students to an institution of higher learning with nearly 3,500 students today. The college offers over 40 majors and minors across five academic divisions: Arts & Sciences, Business, Engineering, Education & Health and Honors. Throughout its history, Manhattan College has been dedicated to providing a quality education that fosters intellectual growth and prepares students for success in their chosen fields.
