Malone University was founded in 1892 by Walter and Emma Malone as a Bible institute in Cleveland, Ohio. The school began with 10 students and two teachers, one of whom was Emma herself. Over the years the school has grown and expanded, eventually becoming a four-year college in 1942. In 1959, the college moved to Canton, Ohio where it is now located on a spacious 140-acre campus. Throughout its history, Malone University has maintained its commitment to academic excellence and Christian values. Malone University is a private, Christian-based institution located in Canton, Ohio. The university’s mission is to provide an educational experience characterized by academic excellence, spiritual growth, and professional development. The admissions process at Malone is competitive and selective. For the fall of 2020, the acceptance rate was 72.3%, with 4,204 students accepted out of 5,812 applicants. Of those accepted students, 56% were female and 44% were male. Approximately 1/3 of all accepted students applied Early Decision or Early Action. The average GPA for incoming students is 3.5 and the average SAT score is 1140 (out of 1600). Additionally, Malone has a strong international student population with over 200 international students from more than 40 countries enrolled in the fall of 2020. Students also come from all 50 states in the US as well as Washington D.C., Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

Malone University offers over 80 degree programs across its six schools: Business & Leadership; Education & Human Development; Engineering & Math; Fine Arts; Health & Human Performance; and Theology & Ministry. In addition to traditional undergraduate degrees, Malone also offers graduate degrees in business administration (MBA), education (MAE), nursing (MSN) and theology (MTS). The school also offers a selection of online courses for both undergraduate and graduate level studies. Students can pursue certificates as well as traditional degree programs through Malone’s online program offering flexible scheduling options for working professionals or those with family obligations that prevent them from attending classes on campus full time.
