Longwood University Acceptance Rate, Average GPA, SAT and ACT Scores

Longwood University has a long and storied history. Its roots can be traced back to the early 19th century when it was founded as the Farmville Female Seminary Association in 1839. The school was initially established to provide educational opportunities to young women who would otherwise have had limited access to higher education. Over time, the school grew and changed its name several times, eventually becoming Longwood College in 1949. In 2002, it was granted university status and changed its name to Longwood University.

From its humble beginnings as a female seminary, the school has grown into a comprehensive university offering more than 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across five colleges: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and Economics, College of Education and Human Services, College of Graduate Studies, and the Honors College. Additionally, Longwood University offers an array of student activities including athletics, clubs/organizations, intramural sports teams, Greek life organizations and much more.
