Lipscomb University was founded in 1891 as Nashville Bible School. The school was established to provide a Christian education to students in the area. Over the years, Nashville Bible School grew and evolved, eventually becoming Lipscomb University in 1988.

The first classes at Lipscomb were held in a small building on the corner of 16th Avenue South and Granny White Pike. As the university grew, it moved to its current location on Belmont Boulevard in the 1920s. Since then, the campus has continued to grow and now includes more than 100 buildings across 70 acres.
