Lakeview College of Nursing (LCN) was founded in 1895 by a group of local citizens in Danville, Illinois. The college was initially established to train nurses for the growing healthcare needs of the local community. In its early years, LCN provided a two-year diploma program and offered courses in anatomy, physiology, nutrition, pharmacology and nursing care.
In its first decade of operation, LCN experienced rapid growth and expansion as the demand for nurses continued to increase. The college added new courses to its curriculum and began offering a four-year Bachelor’s degree program in nursing. In 1915, LCN also became one of the first schools in the nation to offer an Associate’s degree program in nursing. Over time, LCN has continued to evolve and expand its curriculum to keep up with changes in healthcare technology and practice. Today, LCN offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in nursing that are designed to prepare students for successful careers as professional nurses.
