John Brown University (JBU) was founded in 1919 by John E. Brown and his wife, Martha. The Browns were motivated by their Christian faith to establish a college that would prepare students for lives of service and leadership in the world. JBU began as a two-year Bible institute, and over the years has grown into a comprehensive university offering undergraduate and graduate programs. The university is supported by the Arkansas Baptist State Convention and is affiliated with the Baptist Missionary Association of America.

Today, JBU offers more than 40 majors, minors and pre-professional programs.
