Inter American University of Puerto Rico in San German was founded in 1912 by Reverend Heriberto Vergara. It started out as a small, private institution offering secondary education and a teacher-training program. Over the years, it has grown to become one of the largest private universities in Puerto Rico. In 1957, Inter American University added its first graduate programs and began offering bachelor’s degrees in 1959. The university expanded further over the years and now offers over 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
