Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) was founded in 1920 by the Indiana Conference of The Wesleyan Church. The university first opened its doors to students in the fall of 1922 with a total enrollment of 58 students. IWU was originally known as Marion Normal College, and it was established to provide educational opportunities for young people who wanted to become teachers. It offered two-year programs in education and liberal arts, and it also provided a one-year program in Bible study.

In 1930, the school name changed to Marion College, and it continued to grow until 1949 when it became Indiana Wesleyan University. The university gained accreditation from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in 1964, which allowed them to start offering four-year degree programs. Since then, IWU has continued to expand its offerings and has become one of the largest Christian liberal arts universities in the country with over 3,000 undergraduate students enrolled each year. In addition to traditional on-campus learning opportunities, IWU also offers online degrees through their Global Campus initiative which began in 2002. Check searchforpublicschools for a list of public schools in Connecticut by county.
