Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne (IPFW) first opened its doors in 1964 as Indiana University-Fort Wayne. The university was established through a cooperative agreement between Indiana University and Purdue University. IPFW offered classes from both universities, providing students with a unique educational experience. In 1968, the university’s name was officially changed to IPFW.
